Gateway at Howard
Transit & Retail Center
This Multi-acre transit linked mixed-use development is a breakthrough for this long depressed neighborhood at the northern edge of the city of Chicago. As the first major local transit-linked development in the city, it has helped revitalize the Howard/Clark/Rogers Neighborhood with new and rehabilitated retail and residential linked to both rail and bus modes of transit. A new, yet urban, architectural vocabulary is developed for the multi-fronted, multi-level project that contains grocery store, retail, health club, parking, and elderly housing. Another major component and the eastern anchor to the development is the future reconstruction of the existing rail station which will be linked to Daniel P. Coffey & Associates, Ltd design for a bus transit center that is linked to a new 600 car 'park and ride' garage. |
