Oliver Building Exterior RestorationThe Oliver Building was a key part of solving the need of the Oriental Theatre for a significantly expanded stage. The Oriental project therefore acquired the eight-story, 35,200 square foot landmark Oliver Building in order to procure the land area needed to allow for the expansion of the stage. A protected landmark, the Oliver Building’s historic facade was preserved as its interior structure was hollowed out. The Party wall shared with the Oriental was demolished and extended to a depth of 60 feet, double its original depth in order to accommodate the staging needs of the large-scale musicals that now play at the theatre. Special graphic images and storefront displays are now visible through the restored windows. The work on this facade is done to Park Service Restoration Standards. |
