Navy Pier
Daniel P. Coffey & Associates, Ltd. was one of several firms invited to submit design concepts in competition for the redevelopment of the long vacant Navy Pier. The concept suggested a unique and exciting destination on Chicago’s lakefront. At the heart of the project museum, theatre, retail and convention center functions were threaded together by a grand wintergarden. The axial scheme respects the formal tradition of Chicago’s world renowned architecture and takes maximum advantage of the linear site. A series of lighthouse towers, miniature skyscrapers and beacons on the night skyline, present a memorable image of the new Navy Pier and a location from which to view the city’s nearby skyline. ELS/Elbasani & Logan Architects were joint venture partners. |
