Adaptive Re-Use
Over the past 25 years, Daniel P. Coffey & Associates,
Ltd., the 2003 AIA Chicago Architecture Firm of the Year, has developed a
reputation for high quality, innovative work in a variety of complex and
diverse areas of architecture and design. These often include adaptive re-use
of historic as well as older, obsolete buildings which have outlived their original function and are
reinvigorated by the conversion to new and compatible uses. This adaptive
process requires deep understanding of construction methods of the past in order to facilitate feasible adaptations and reconstruction of older buildings. It is our practice to have sensitivity to historic character and materials combined
with innovative planning and technological expertise to efficiently incorporate the functional
requirements of new uses.
